William W. Mason ’61

William W. Mason ’61 died December 24, 2014, in Brewster, Massachusetts. 

He was born on October 16, 1938, in Winchester, MA, to James Nelson Mason ’33 and June Louise Wight. He prepared for college at Winchester High School in Winchester, MA. Mason was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He played golf and ran track at Bowdoin and was a member of inter-fraternity football and basketball and participated in debate council. He married Linda E. Branneman in 1961 and a year later joined Kidder, Peabody & Co., where he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a vice president and manager of the Prudential Center Office and partner of the firm. In 1978, he left Kidder and formed ECM Securities, Inc., a boutique SEC broker/dealer. Mason is survived by two daughters, Sara Mason and Susan Stevens; a granddaughter, Isabel Levy; his former wife, Linda Orleans; and two brothers, James Mason and Peter Mason.
